FAQ about our Shiba puppies
Can I reserve a puppy?
It's definitely the preferred option. By reserving, you can choose your puppy's sex and coat colour, and it helps us plan matings based on the requests we receive. We accept a maximum of 3 reservations per litter, so don't wait too long — we're not an intensive breeding operation!
At what age are puppies delivered?
As required by law, puppies are delivered after they turn sixty days old, dewormed and with 2 vaccinations, a veterinary health certificate, a health record, national dog registry registration, and a puppy kit. On request, delayed delivery or a set delivery date can also be arranged.
Can the puppy be delivered to my home?
Of course, although we prefer to meet you in person and spend some time together, so the puppy has a chance to get to know you and the transition feels smoother and more natural. We often handle delivery ourselves, and when that's not possible we work with a trusted carrier who will deliver the puppy directly to your home. Call us for details.
What should the puppy be fed?
The puppy is delivered already weaned, and for your convenience comes with a starter supply of kibble. It's your choice whether to continue with kibble or move to a home-cooked diet — if so, we're happy to give you all the guidance you need to prepare fresh, delicious meals.
Is the puppy already house-trained?
The Shiba Inu is known for being a very clean breed, and by the time of delivery the puppy is usually already used to going outside. It's normal for the occasional accident to happen in a new environment, but within a couple of days they'll settle into their new home and, when the time comes, will ask to go out.
How many times a day does it need to go out?
As a rule, 2 walks a day are enough for an adult dog; puppies may need to go out more often — 3 or 4 times at first — but that's part of the settling-in period.
Is it leash-trained?
Our puppies go through a training programme and arrive already prepared for various activities, including walking on a leash — going out with them won't be a problem!
How often does it need grooming?
Puppies arrive already used to baths and grooming in general (ear and nail cleaning, etc.). We recommend bathing roughly every 3-4 months, more often during shedding season and less in between. Nail care also needs attention — especially for dogs living in apartments, nails should be trimmed roughly every 10 days so they stay used to it.
How does puppy selection work?
Puppies are matched based on their temperament, aiming for the best possible fit with the characteristics of the future owner that emerge during our conversation.
Where is the kennel located?
The kennel is located about 2.5 km from Isernia, in Molise, in an unspoiled rural area where our Shiba Inu can enjoy nature and freely express their natural temperament.
What tests do you carry out on your breeding dogs?
Our breeding dogs are tested for hip dysplasia, patella and eye conditions, and undergo biological sample collection. Each sample is subject to more than 240 genetic tests to rule out hereditary diseases, under the MyDog DNA protocol — a test certified by Vetogene laboratories, a spin-off of the University of Milan.
Do you offer support after adoption?
Absolutely — we're always available to advise you on nutrition, behaviour, grooming, training, and generally every aspect of life with your Shiba. We also value staying in touch with new owners over the years, and hearing their feedback on their experience with their Shiba — it helps us keep improving, and it's one of the things that sets us apart.
